Bright Hills Baronial Birthday – Brúðkaup
Carroll County Ag Center: 706 Agricultural Center Dr, Westminster, MD 21157
February 6th, 2027 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
Hearken, good gentles, and gather beneath the banners of Bright Hills!
The Barony of Bright Hills invite you to join us in celebrating another year of our Barony, with this year’s festivities inspired by the raucous Norse tale The Lay of Thrym.
A tale of stolen treasures, clever schemes, unexpected disguises, and a feast fit for gods and giants.
Come spend the day with friends old and new, enjoying fighting, feasting, games, and festivities as we celebrate Bright Hills and the people who make our Barony such a wonderful place to call home.
Bring your finest garb, your appetite, your best stories, and your sense of adventure. Raise a horn, cross blades, share a feast, and enjoy the company of your fellow gentles.
Come make merry with Bright Hills as we celebrate another glorious year!

Arts and Sciences
We will have 3 different displays all under one A&S theme. There will be two different stickers that will be placed on your name card for your display. One sticker for joining in the Baronial Championship competition, and one for the event competition. You can join in both, or neither if you want to display your items with no competition at all.
A wedding is a time for celebration, feasting, and the giving of gifts. In the spirit of our Norse-inspired theme, we invite artisans and craftspeople to create something that might be given to a newlywed couple or worn by a guest at a Viking-age wedding.
Perhaps it is a gift meant to bring prosperity and good fortune to the newlyweds, an adornment fit for the wedding feast, something useful for their new household, or an item that a bride, groom, or honored guest might proudly wear on the day.
Bring forth your finest work and imagine yourself preparing for a wedding in the North. What would you give the happy couple? What would you wear to celebrate their union? What treasure might be worthy of presentation at the feast?
Entries may take many forms, whether that is jewelry, textiles, clothing, woodworking, metalwork, pottery, foodways, leatherwork, illumination, or any other appropriate art or craft.
Please bring documentation, as well as a title for your display. We will be setting up name cards to keep everything organized.
Let the gifts be worthy, the adornments be splendid, and the craftsmanship be worthy of the feast!
What will you bring to the wedding?
Youth Activites
Young Norsemen and Shieldmaidens, gather round! The treasures of the gods have been scattered throughout Bright Hills, and we need your help to find them!
Set off on a scavenger hunt to seek out the beads of Brísingamen, collecting treasures along the way. Once you have gathered enough beads, you can use them to create your very own necklace inspired by Freyja’s legendary treasure.
When your Brísingamen is complete, don your new finery and prepare to walk the runway into Court for a special Viking fashion show! Show off your creation and let everyone see the treasures you have discovered.
And for those who would rather wield a hammer than wear a necklace, our Mjölnir coloring station will let you design your very own mighty hammer. Decorate it however you like—perhaps with runes, knotwork, lightning, or your own heraldic designs.
Whether you seek treasure, create something beautiful, or unleash your artistic talents, there will be plenty of adventure for our youngest Vikings!
Come explore, create, and show off your treasures!
Brewing
We will have an open competition for the best Viking brewed beverage, and also their Excellencies will be looking for a new Brewing Champion!

Feast
“He called out: “Jötuns, set out the benches and the tables for a feast. I
have many goats and sheep, a multitude of black-eared oxen, chests
brimming with jewels and every possession that a giant could delight in. But
one thing I lack, the beautiful Freya for my wife. Now they are bringing her
to be my bride. Giants rejoice! This shall be our wedding day.”
The giants brought giant quantities of drink and food. Thor alone ate an
entire ox, eight salmon, and all the dainty little dishes that were set out for
the women. He washed down his food with three barrels of mead. Thrym
marveled at such appetite” – The Lay of Thrym
