The Baron and Baroness
The Baron and Baroness are the ceremonial heads and representatives of our Barony. They serve as the voice and face of the Barony within the Kingdom and help foster a welcoming, active, and connected community.
Our Baronage supports the people of the Barony, recognizes accomplishments and contributions, participates in events and traditions, and helps celebrate the many talents and achievements of our populace. They also represent the Barony at Kingdom events and serve as hosts and ambassadors when visitors join us.
While they don’t run the day-to-day operations of the Barony—that work is shared by our officers, guilds, and volunteers—the Baron and Baroness help provide leadership, encouragement, and a sense of community for everyone who calls the Barony home.

Dietary Restrictions
- No pork, ham, pork products, or shellfish
- No alcohol
- They limit high-carbohydrate and starchy foods and generally pass on desserts and baked goods
- Please use mint lightly
Foods They Enjoy
Chicken, beef, venison, goose, duck, veal, turkey, and lamb are all welcome, especially grilled, roasted, smoked, or stewed. They also enjoy most vegetables, cheese, nuts, olives, and mushrooms.
- His Excellency: Generally avoids fish, except salmon/lox and cod. He enjoys blue cheese and cilantro.
- Her Excellency: Enjoys fish, including smoked and pickled fish, and especially loves lox. She does not care for blue cheese or cilantro.
- Her Excellency’s allergies: Pork, kale, and roses (including rosewater).
Beverages
Water and unsweetened iced tea are preferred with meals. For field activities, Powerade Zero is appreciated—blue for His Excellency and red for Her Excellency. Morning coffee with creamer and stevia is a must!
A Brief History of Bright Hills
The Barony of Bright Hills has been part of the Kingdom of Atlantia for more than three decades. What began as the Shire of Bright Hills in 1986 grew into the Barony we know today, serving the greater Baltimore area and the surrounding counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, and Harford.
Bright Hills received its baronial status in A.S. 28 (1994), with its first Investiture held on February 12, 1994. Inclement weather forced the ceremony to move from its planned location to the home of Master Chirhart Blackstar and Mistress Jeanne Tenneur de Bec. There, Master Heinrich Kreiner and Mistress Barbara Giomaria di Roberto became Bright Hills’ founding Baron and Baroness.
Since then, Bright Hills has been guided by a succession of Baron and Baronesses who have helped shape the traditions, culture, and community of the Barony. Each pair—and, on occasion, a single Coronet—has left their own mark on Bright Hills and helped carry its traditions forward.
