
Bright Hills Baronial Birthday – A Day in Rome
The Day:
General Schedule:
9:00– Site opens. Merchants’ set-up.
10:00– Royal Court and Investiture
Immediately Following Morning Court
* Gaming with Master Wynne for adults and children.
* Heavy Fighting outdoors. Wear warm clothing.
* Begin Mistress Glynnis jewelry class…all day
* Mistress Faye with Greek/Roman clothing
* Buying marvelous things at the merchants.
* Arts and Sciences set-up- All Roads Lead to Rome! Just as the ancient roads led to Rome, so too did many crafts. Engineering and metalworking were at their peak and artistry was at an all-time high. Channel the Musae and spring forth into creating an entry that you can trace in some way to Rome. The path may be winding, but like the roads of yore it must lead there eventually.
NOON– Lunch by the Bright Hills Archers. Price is $10.00

Brewers Roundtable
Children’s chariot “building”. “Chariots” and decorations will be provided.
Children are encouraged to bring a stuffie to ride inside the chariot. Depending on the weather and temperature, races may be outside. Otherwise, the races will be held indoors.
1:00- CHILDREN’S CHARIOTS RACES! Betting is welcome. Who is the fastest chariot racer in Bright Hills?
* After chariot races. Prepare for mock gladiator games. Contestants will fight with as a Hoplomachus (spear), a Dimachaerus (two swords), or a Velites (spear and small shield).
“Weapons” will be provided. There will be three divisions, children 6-10, 11-13 and adult. Head shots will not be allowed. To do so is to suffer the wrath of a downed thumb.
2:00– GLADIATOR GAMES. Best two out of three, or Round-Robin. Contestants will decide.
3:00– Gaming Champions Announced. Are these winners courageous enough to challenge one-another for the Ultimate Winner? Best two out of three!
* Decompress and set-up for Court.
3:30- 5:30 – Royal and Baronial Court- Our new Coronets will conduct their first court at Their Majesties Pleasure. Their Majesties will also speak to the populace.
6:00 or there abouts– Feast!
After feast ends there will be clean-up. Any who stay to help will have the grateful thanks of the Autocrat…er…Steward and the Barony!
Times and activities are flexible.
Armored Tournament: Weather Permitting, A coin challenge tournament, each fighter will be issued Roman coins, fighter at end of day the fighter with the most coins is the winner.
1) Fighters may challenge a fighter of equal rank or higher, i.e. Un-belt can challenge another Un-belt or a Squire or a Knight; Squire can challenge a Squire or a Knight; Knight can challenge a Knight.
2) Bets do not have to be equal amounts. i.e. Squire challenges a Knight, for one coin verses the Knights 2 coins, or whatever odds you can get.
Arts and Sciences:
Master Lewen invites brewers from around the barony and Kingdom to a contest for the title of Baronial Brewer. There will also be a Brewers Roundtable to discuss (taste) various potable beverages.

Do you like games? Master Richard Wyn will be holding gaming competitions for both adults and children. The winners of each group will then go on the play each other to find the Ultimate Gamer!
Largess Challenge: Bright Hills is the 13th Barony of Atlantia. As such, the contest is to produce 13 items of largess for our new Baron and Baroness.
Gladiatorial Games: Mock games to be held for the populace.
Children’s Corner: Chariot racing, bring a soft squishy friend (or two) as passengers. Barony will provide the chariot and the decorations for the children.

Feast: Bright Hills Cooks Guild will be serving a Fine Feast full of delicious Roman dishes.

There is a discount of $5.00 for those who preregister. The family cap is 2 adults and 2 children.
No mail in registrations using cash will be accepted per guidelines.
Directions:
From North, due South or East-Take your best route to Baltimore, MD and I-695. Follow I-695 to Exit #19/I- 795. Follow I-795 West- 9 miles to MD route 30. Turn left onto MD route 30 and follow it 14 miles to Manchester, MD. Once in Manchester, turn right on York St, follow it several blocks. The site will be on your right. Look for the curved stone gateway. From West and parts of DC and North VA-Take your best route to I-70 and exit #68/ Mt Airy, MD route 27 North until it dead ends in Manchester, MD. Turn right onto Main St/route 30 and go several blocks to the next traffic light. Turn left onto York St and follow for several blocks. The site will be on your right. Look for the curved stone gateway.
**We are requesting that all attendees go past the site to the next block (Victory St., make a right and then another right onto Maple Ave. to park on the field. *Handicap parking will remain in the parking lot to the left and front of the building. There will be activities located both inside and outside so please dress appropriately.
